Can neurological problems create fluid retention/swelling in the lower legs?
I’m having some muscle “movements” with fluid retention in my lower legs. The doctor and I can find no explanation for the fluid. We have checked all the usual causes (ie. kidneys, sodium, etc.) The fluid is in both the front and back of my lower legs and ankles…just a little puffy, nothing major. As I stay off them it is getting better. Any ideas? Thanks.

It’s hard to say based on your post. Normal muscle activity, as with walking, is indeed a small but important part of proper venous return from the legs, so people with hypotonicity, or outright paralysis have a relative venous insufficiency and will develop some edema, but that doesn’t sound like it applies in your case.
